1. Overview
Sakina ("the App") is built privacy-first. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, the limited third parties involved, and your choices. By using the App you agree to this policy.
2. Analytics Data We Collect
To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we collect pseudonymous product-analytics events through PostHog. This may include:
- Screens you view and features you use
- Onboarding responses you provide, which can include preferences about your spiritual practice (such as your goals and how often you pray)
- Subscription events (e.g. paywall viewed, trial started)
- Technical data: app version, device type, operating system, language and region, and a randomly generated analytics identifier
We do not collect your name or email for analytics. These events are sent to and processed by PostHog on servers located in the European Union. You can turn analytics off at any time (see "Your Choices").
3. Subscriptions & Purchases
When you start a subscription, your payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we never receive or store your payment-card details. We use RevenueCat to manage your subscription status and receipts so we can unlock premium features and let you restore purchases across your devices. RevenueCat processes a purchase identifier and receipt data on our behalf.
4. Data Stored Only On Your Device
The following stays on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Your display name (set by you)
- App preferences (theme, language)
- Your selected protected apps
- Prayer check-off history and dhikr statistics
- Your last known location, cached for prayer-time calculation
5. Location
With your permission, the App uses your location only while the App is in use to calculate accurate prayer times for your area. Location is processed on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can deny or revoke this permission in your device settings; prayer times will then fall back to a default.
6. App Blocking & Screen Time
On iOS, the app-blocking feature uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. Your choice of apps to protect and the blocking itself are handled on your device by Apple's framework — Sakina cannot see which specific apps you use or your usage history, and none of this leaves your device. On Android, the feature uses Usage Access and Display-Over-Other-Apps permissions solely to detect when a protected app is opened and to show the pause screen, entirely on-device.
7. Third-Party Services
We work with a small number of processors:
- PostHog — product analytics (eu.posthog.com)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (revenuecat.com)
- Apple / Google — payment processing for subscriptions
We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
On-device data can be deleted at any time by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling the App. To request deletion of analytics data associated with your device, contact us at support@sakinapray.com and we will action your request.
9. Your Choices
You can opt out of analytics collection from within the App. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Play Store account. You can deny or revoke location and other permissions in your device settings.
10. Children's Privacy
Sakina is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here, and continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
